You're not alone! We're filmmakers and actors, so we direct you the way we'd direct someone on set. We'll try different strategies to get your most organic shots, not just “smile.” Most people don't learn, understand and react the same way to the same direction, so there's no reason to give only one type of instruction. It's a collaboration that we're happy to lead. You'd be surprised how often we hear “That was easier than I thought it'd be!”
